5 Tips for Accessible Elections & Polling Places

Today, I have my 5 Tips for Accessible Elections and Polling Places. These are not official DOJ or US Access Board tips; they are my practical tips that will help any elections or polling place official trying to make their facilities more accessible.

Tip #1 – Start with Full Compliance First. I.e., the removal of all barriers.

Tip #2 – Recognize that full compliance may not always be achievable.

Tip #3 – Use the “Approach, Enter and Exit” methodology.

Tip #4 – Start with Parking and work your way into the voting areas.

Tip #5 – Temporary measures are your friend.
